Jim, not knowing much about diet, I believe excesses in any direction are wrong. I follow a very old tradition,
"Everything goes, in moderation." How can you enjoy a good bottle of Chateau Mouton, without a juicy slice of venison?

>>In the end analysis, they are the same thing!<<

If so then why do doctors take into consideration past medical history in ones family????! I have buried 100 year olds that have smoked and drank all their lives and I have buried 50 year old friends that were working out when suddenly they just fell over dead without any warnings what so ever. In my readings and what a see daily genes do make a very big difference!

I eat and drink what I want, but not over do it in any one thing and try to eat a broad array of foods as well! Remember when salt was bad for you? How about eggs? How about wine? Now these and all other foods that use to be bad for you are now said to either not hurt you as they first thought or even help in some cases! I try to enjoy life to it's fullest and eating is one of my favorite enjoyments. Look what people eat today compared to a hundred years ago when they had a lot less to choose from. We are living much longer now than those that were born at anytime before now! One needs to do what makes him or her feel the best and eating what I want makes me feel GOOD!

Happy eating and enjoying life, for remember life is way too short as is, for I see death everyday!
