"Can you live with ...?" is not the same as "backing." You read more into some of these polls than I do. Also, when some people say, yes, Bush is doing a good job, that does not necessarily mean that they approve of the Republican platform or that they would vote for Bush over the Democratic opponent today or in 2004. Bottom line remains more Americans voted for the other guy than for Bush on Nov. 8. Bush won the election because of the Electoral College, not because he won a Reagan-like mandate from the American people.
