Intel did sell their MU stock, and at a healthy profit.

Hi Skeeter Bug; After Micron got the $500 million, they did develop RDRAM, the announcements that they've been ready for volume production have been going on for nearly 2 years. But they never got any volume orders, at least not at the price they wanted to charge. Micron has repeatedly stated this, and it's the only explanation that makes sense. You can translate it into any combination of the following (reasonable) explanations:

(1) RDRAM is very expensive for Micron to make.
(2) Micron really didn't want to make RDRAM.
(3) There isn't much of a market for RDRAM.
(4) Micron didn't want to set up an RDRAM line, and then have to shut it down after RDRAM goes bye bye a few months later.
