I know someone who got a lot out of being a shop steward, not because of what the job paid directly, but because of the perks it afforded him on the job. He was able to finagle a better job on a construction site, reserve as much overtime for himself as he liked, and generally get pampered for his position, lest he encourage trouble.......

Did you see where Bush has proposed Gaddi Vasquez for head of the Peace Corps and Hector Barreto to head the SBA? Confirmation likely for both.
