Lg...I've noticed a decreased posting vloume across the board on SI, and I'm sure it's due in large part to this range the indices have been trading in. I aalso remember distinctly how volume of posts on the old MDD thread would fall way off to practically nothing during times of excessive bullishness...or complacency.

This thread is about quality...not quantity. Personally, I'd rather read only a couple well thought out posts a day, than sift through more or less a bunch off topic dicussion. Many threads out there to use together.

In regards to your thoughts on distribution on the NYA...could you explain to me why you do not consider these volume spikes in the trading range distribution. I was under the impression from some of your insight that this type of action could be viewed as such.

Do you still feel the NYA will bounce from the possible 8/7 +/- lows around 575 as outlined in your 7/8/2001 commentary?

I believe that if the NYA gets down to 575, it will have breached the '95 trendline on my chart, along with breaking support of the 1998 highs, and it will have broken down out of the bearish rising wedge I've shown also. This would be a major negative.

Thanks for suffering my inexperienced take... I realize in this type of market direction is increasingly difficult to discern as time goes on.

Best Regards,

John

LG, I read this board all the time. The charts and points I could make are quite similar to ones you are making. Furthermore, my charting experience is not as extensive and my chart sites are not as versatile.

I did spend some time on Friday evening looking over the NDX 15-minute, 60-minute, and daily charts.

Interesting that the 60-minute printed an evening star doji on the 2nd to the last stick on Friday. I took that as an omen that we'd be going down most of this week.

I also drew some crude SRL's on an NDX chart, and it seems it could be possible that we could go down all week and bounce early next week (your pivot point) at 1520 to 1530 according to the lines I drew (not too accurate, but pretty close I'd think).

That works out to about 38 on the QQQ. That would require breaking out of the symetrical triangle we're in right now and going below the 1890 Fib re-trace on the COMPX. I'm not sure that would happen, but we have been bouncing off the descending SRL in the last couple of major pivot points.

All this would tend to support your pivot of today as well as your pivot of August 7, plus or minus 1-day. 1890 COMPX may not be low enough for us to drop and pivot on volume.

Anyway, I'd bet that each of your posts is read by at least 20 people, so that's not really posting to yourself.

LG i tried posting to you at hotmail but it came back.
One reason I have not posted so much is I do not know if my posts are relevant or not.

Many are not based on TA but put call ratios, sentiment or whatever, but I usually give a reason. You will have to let me know if these are appropriate.

Here is one I did on my board on the FOOL that I am sure is appropriate. This was posted Sunday

I sense an impending 13EMA/50EMA crossover A couple of gaps way below. I hope they fill.

From the other side of the fence look at NVDA PMCS CHKP after big runups could be ready to stall at 50DMA.

lg, i think the declining posting is because of the sleepy, narrow range zig zag market for the last month.

it's getting pretty lean, when you can only take 50-80 cents out of a swing on intc -gg-

LG, I read all your posts. I wish I could
post more but can't due to time constraints. I
appreciate your thoughts and evaluations.

There are only a few people on SI that can manage
the social aspects of message boards. You are one of them.

I bet that posting your thoughts actually helps you
focus and document your analysis.
