RE:"

RE:"I didn't know you were a big fan of AquaMark"

Shoot, I've never heard of it...but then again, I've never heard of a lot of the benchmarks the P4 looks good on either and I don't play 'Ole Quake...or some game called bandwidth detector (or is that a benchmark, lol).

RE:"Even then, Tualatin certainly performs admirably compared to the other Intel CPUs."

Sure does...too bad Intel is going to relegate it to Celeron and X-box status so they can "move the industry to the P4"...otherwise the Tualatin makes the P4 look less than stellar.

Will Intel ever use the P4 core for a Celeron?

Ten
what is your take on setting for the benchmarks?

"The 1-GHz Mobile Athlon 4 is able to step down to 300 MHz at 1.2 volts ...... 1.13-GHz Pentium III-M can slow down to 733 MHz at 1.15 volts ..... The runtime results we present here are with the machines set to maximize battery life."

d'you think that we may not be comparing apples and apples?

Tenchusatsu, Re: "Even then, Tualatin certainly performs admirably compared to the other Intel CPUs."

It would have been nice to be able to see a clock for clock comparison of the P3 and P3-M chips as otherwise the 20% clock increase and uncertain scaling factor make this comparison difficult--I am mostly curious about the pre-fetch effectiveness with a more limited FSB than A4/P4. On the power consumption side, however, it is clear that Intel's 0.13 micron process is quite successful.

Probably time for another full round of CPU comparisons: Celeron / Duron ; P3 / P3A / P4 / T-Bird / Pallie. Hm... still waiting for desktop Morgans and Pallies...
