Bush's popularity strategy is clear. Fight for as much pollution as Americans will allow he and his cronies to get away with, back off a little when his handlers tell him polls look bad, then do lots of nice photo ops in Yosemite etc. pledging support for the environment which he is already mandated by law to uphold. Also appeal to church groups to look compassionate so that swing-voters don't see him for what he really is, in the pocket of the big pollutors, HMO's, drug companies, arms dealer and tobacco companies, and fat as hell on soft money corruption. I'll say one thing for the GOP, they are very skillful tacticians and really fooled the country last year. I hope and pray their day of reckoning is coming and that big money and disinformation campaigns cannot buy democracy again.
