tech reports,

Thanks for clarifying the issues. I agree completely now that I think I fully understand your points. I'd like to add further clarity if I can to your last point, which for me is the most important. It deals with the stuff that I feel is important to the individual high-tech investor with tendencies toward carpetological disabilities.

how can i make my own decision when i'm basing it off other people's decisions. I have no idea if CDMA is truely better than GSM, i'm just trusting the reports from Qualcomm that their technology is the best & from other reports i've read.

You probably saw my sentiment about that at the Fool, that there is a point that a carpetologist is in the same situation as a juror who has to decide who the credible witness is when contradictory testimony is given. However, as much as that is the case for deciding whether or not a technology will or won't perform as advertised or whether or not the technology is open, proprietary and with high switching costs, that's not true when evaluating whether or not the tornado has formed and other significant issues we use to assess the degree of sustainable, competitive advantage. I really do believe that the bulk of the information available can be interpreted just as effectively by the carpetologists as by the career technologists if we're willing to put in the time and dig deeply enough. In fact, that's exactly why I like Gorilla Gaming.

Just don't base it off another investor's decisions!

But you don't need to know if their technology is the best from a technical point of view. You can base your judgement on the behavior of the value chain (and those resisting becoming part of the value chain). That will tell you what technology will actually be chosen and used.

Maybe I should take a weekend off and fly down to 2315 North First Street San Jose

Along with a couple of other addresses ... but even then, I doubt you would have the answer. I think there is a lot to play out in this space that won't be clear for a couple of years.
