Pete, <It is easy to see many other simple ways to 4 way and up.>

This is the myth perpetuated by people who think they've become instant experts in servers just by reading a few HyperTransport foils.

Going to 4-way and above with HyperTransport isn't as simple as putting together a bunch of Legos. It's a big deal to support the BIOS, design a motherboard, get OEMs to validate it, get OS support, make sure it's compatible with existing 4-way-enabled software, etc.

<That way gets PCI, PCI-X, PCI 64/66, AGP, Infiniband, ISA, NIC and SB connected. Thus AMD will have more I/O slots than Intel.>

Like I said before, Powerpoint foils do not a server make. I can't help but laugh at your obvious attempt to toss out names here. AGP and ISA in a high-end server? Yeah, Oooo-Kay!

Blow Hard Dan's Twin Brother - Re: "It is easy to see many other simple ways to 4 way and up. The biggest need is for a HT switch somewhere. "

So easy?

AMD - HT Inventor - CAN'T DO IT !!!

If they could, they would !

And they CAN'T !!

Give it up.
