Well, that definition means that by current custom and law, you are correct; it is not. I am going to have to retreat to saying that I am use its archaic meaning (pre-sixties).

But seriously, if "illicit sex" doesn't mean"sex outside of marriage", what does it mean?

And what does politics, in the usual sense of law, have to do with this? We are talking social attitudes more than law.
