I just spent the afternoon researching and reading oil and gas CEO's speeches and statements from last spring and early summer. Not one mention of an impending shortage. Just as three is no shortage now. But they sure fooled us al between June and March didn't they? And boy did we pay!. Only Jeffords switching parties stopped it.

If you want to feel sorry for these crooks and give them your money go ahead but I'm telling the absolute truth here. And California was forced into some bad deals at the peak of the spiking when Bush-Cheney refused to help but whose fault is that? I can tell you this, Californian citizens, almost all of them much less educated about it than I am, feel 55% that the energy crisis was a manipulated sham, gouging and never really existed. People aren't that stupid. But maybe you are. Or maybe you prefer ignorance to realizing you voted for the wrong ticket. Will you defend any criminal behavior perpetrated by our new Energy Cartel White House? Do you want a power plant in your backyard?

Why don't you start by doing a search for the National Petroleum Council and start reading their statements and platforms. They clearly stand for more pollution, total deregulation of pricing (which they can then control as they did after Bush took power), complete freedom to devastate wilderness areas and government off their backs entirely. They would get all of that and more if Bush-Cheney had their way. While much cleaner fuels, easily attainable efficiency and conservation standards could do just as much for our problem (assuming we even have a problem).
