Jitmab - You may or may not agree (I'm guessing you do agree) with the effect that Roe vs Wade had (making abortions legal anywhere in the US at any point in a pregnancy) but where in the constitution does it mention abortion? It doesn't even mention privacy directly. If you believe that nation wide easy availability of abortion is a good policy then the change should have been made by the state legislature because this area is not an area delegated to the federal government or even mentioned in the constitution. Ofcourse it (the constitution) doesn't say that abortion should be illegal or the the unborn have a right to life either, so if the supreme court ruled 100% in favor of the pro-life position that would be an example of an activist court as well.

We've already been over the 2nd amendment. If you see gun control as a good thing that you should appeal for and amendment that will get rid of the 2nd, but instead the supreme court has at times supported infringing the right to keep and bear arms.

If the issues are not political how come you even have conservative and liberal groups in the supreme court? Why do people care about who gets to appoint supreme court judges? The reason is these decisions are also political and with the power the SC has and its willingness to reinterpret the constitution to suit some whim or atleast some agenda or legal theory rather then actually following the constitution strictly, who gets this power becomes very important.

Can you find the words "right to privacy" in the Constitution?
