John,
RE:"You have some strange opinions that usually conflict with reality. Are you saying Grove bad; Barrett good?"

You have a way of insulting people before asking a question.

I know Grove is the holy grail but before he left he got a bit too arrogant and paranoid.

1. Denied there was sub $1000 market.
2. Then over-reacted to the Media GX and burned a lot of money on the now defunct Timna. Which poor Barrett got blamed for.
3. Saddled up with Rambus which poor Barrett has had to patch up by having to replace motherboards (i820) for starters.
4. Barrett has had to develop a chipset so the P-III (i815) and now the P4 (i845) so Intels chips can run on SDRAM...
In the case of the P-III, it was without a chipset that supported a 133 bus for 6-9 months and had to rely on VIA NO LESS.
5. Barrett has had to deal with all the bad press, anger that came from being associated with a felonious company like Rambus. AND share some of the blame for trying to ram that architecture down the industries throat while cornering the market for themselves.

Thank goodness for Intel because they only had to deal with Jerry Sanders during this time.
