<<What's the story on ACF (AmeriCredit)? Any thoughts? PerryA>>

I was looking at 'em yesterday. They've been expanding the balance sheet, right through the downturn, but were saved by BubbleBoy lowering rates. Basically, they provide subprime financing for car loans, they tend to securitize as much as they can. They're making dough now 'cause of the low ST rates/high spread to their loans. I think they'll take it in the neck soon 1) Due to deteriorating credit quality/bad loans 2) Due to slowing car sales 3) Due to rising rates, when and if that finally happens. They're close to being ripe, but wait for fairly unequivocal signs of reversal technically, 'cause the MoMo boyz got a hold of this one and they still haven't let go. Or just buy leap poots for 2003 and DCA over the next 3 months....

EDIT: I didn't look at their chart yesterday, looks like their building a pretty decent rising wedge. If they break below 60, should be shortable on a retest at 61 or so.
