Albert,

Almost sounds like Barrett talking:

Further, we believe that YoY unit growth rates are in the process of bottoming
now, a process that should be confirmed by subsequent SIA Global Billings
Reports. Recent anecdotal evidence has shown bookings improvement in the PC and
peripherals, wireless handset, and consumer component markets, and if this
trend persists, will result in improving YoY comparisons. We also note that
unit shipments were up 16% sequentially in June, which is the strongest May-to-
June increase on record.

Albert,

I think that the reason of a possible delay of i845 based motherboards would be that Intel wants to launch the 2 GHz P4 on a good platform first, thereby creating the image of a world-class, performance leading processor. Once that image is created, the P4 can be sold on a low-priced, underperforming platform and almost nobody will notice the severe drop in performance.

If the i845 will be launched prior to or at the same time as the 2 GHz P4, initial reviews may be made with these both together, that means with the combination of a P4 2000 and a i845 motherboard. Then the reviewers might complain about the disappointing performance and the P4 might get the image of an underperforming chip.
