G, I love a good challenge. The semiconductor new orders data is released by the US Census Bureau in the Department of Commerce. This is part of their Manufacturer's Shipments, Inventories and Orders reports, released monthly. The data is old, as the August report contains information for the month of June.

That report is available here (http://www.census.gov/indicator/www/m3/index.htm). On the left you should see a link for Table 2 (Excel on the top and PDF below). You'll see that the number for semis is very volatile (-40, +34 and +3 for April, May and June, respectively).

Hope this helps.

*Very OT*
Gottfried and Thread,
This week I was blessed with the arrival of my first grandchild, Matthew. It was indeed a special moment as my wife and I were in the delivery room with my daughter and son-in-law when he was born. My mind has been everywhere but on my job or in the markets. It was indeed a great week for me. To hold a newborn child in his first moments of life is something I will never forget. There may be no atheists in foxholes but there aren't many in the delivery room either. I am off to see him now and I will tell him about the amat crew--well in a couple of years perhaps. I will let you all know how he progresses. I know he will be special. Mike
