It was a figure of speech CB. In the thick of the cultural revolution, great leaps backwards and mayhem of the communist years, based on a primitive agrarian society, and power growing out of the barrel of a gun, I think 'stone age' is appropriate. <He means the Chinese weren't, and aren't, living in the Stone Age, otherwise known as the Neolithic. They were reading, writing, living in cities, wearing fine garments woven out of silk, had orchestral music, astronomy, medicine, architecture, mathematics etc. etc. while your ancestors (and mine) were wearing fur skins and painting themselves blue. Excellent philosophers, too. Western science is still learning about acupuncture, herbal medicine, and so forth, but you don't see big, fat Chinese people keeling over from strokes and heart attacks at the age of 50. > Life expectancy in the USA exceeds that of China. Acupuncture is nonsense. Herbal medicine is mostly nonsense too, on a par with homeopathy and 'alternative' medicine. Of course there are useful chemicals from plants, but plants are NOT there for our benefit and like most charlatans, they take a little truth and stretch it all the way into your wallet. My point was technology CB. China can go in a single step to the latest and greatest. Cultural norms change more slowly, but even huge changes like 'One Child Only' can take place very, very fast. I doubt that my ancestors were painting themselves blue though fur has always been very warm and is still a good clothing material. Mq
