Dolinar, I sigh with you. Were I a youth I would consider taking a year off to go to Friesland in Holland
to work in the stables. End of topic.
I wonder if you feel "free enough" in exercise of free speech to speculate as to how Germans holding Deutchmarks
are going to handle January 1, 2002. I pose that question in spirit of one who might, were he/she being
Jayesque in outlook, circumvent/thwart/outright cheat the EU in picking up "safer" (provided there is such a beast)
currency in place of Euro. It is a rhetorical question of course since those of us in US with Keogh plans such as mine with Schwab have no recourse to move untraceable money into Swiss Francs. Our only options appear
to be going with gold stocks for a time, a Canadian gold fund like CEF.Tor (which has too much of its assets
in silver bullion for my taste). I gather from various sources on the web that there is great Angst about being German and having to relinquish Marks for Euros or be in violation of law. As is often stated on this and other
sharp threads, maintaining diversity of investments remains high priority. That said I personally think
this relentless, to my mind mindless allegiance of American nationals to their currency in face of current and ongoing trade deficit is madness. These are all hypothetical questions of course, as I would never consider
doing anything of which my benevolent and loving government disapproves.
Happy Sunday, Guten Abend und froliche Woche (sorry for no umlauts on my keyboard)
