>>Summer 1999 San Diego Gas & Electric lifts consumer price caps.
Having divested its generation plants earlier than expected, San Diego Gas & Electric becomes the first utility to lift the consumer price cap. Within a
year, as wholesale power costs soar, consumers see their electricity bills triple.<<

How can this be???????????????????/ I thought it was all PRESIDENT Bush's fault? Gee a year and half before he's elected. Dang he's good.

First they had to put out the fire. Now it's time to find and convict the arsonists. And we know who they are.
Incidentally, you post that Pete Wilson had "no opposition" pushing energy deregulation through the state legislature. NO opposition? Did you type that in yourself? Since when does any government have no opposition for anything? In any case, you hit it on the head. Deregulation was a Republican idea and apparently a major time bomb once the suppliers decided to gang up and exploit it to the max. Perhaps eight years of a Democrat in the White House kept them from doing this sooner. And when have they ever had two energy CEO's running things? Boy did they move in fast and plunder. And we give bank robbers who steal $5000 20 years in jail. What do these Buch-Cheney cronies deserve?
