Bd, I did mean Frankenstien NAS since EMC puts their symmetrix system together with their NAS system.

Yes...as I understand it, they sell their nas filers along with and attach to their san storage. In fact, I challenge you to find ANY emc nas filers sold alone, without an emc san. It doesn't increase the size or formidability of their nas....why call it a Frankenstein?

Want to call nas filers a Frankenstein? Try a big bank of ntap filers equalling the storage capacity of an emc san storage...and hook that to a humungous direct attached storage system. Those direct storage make any emc product look like Little Bow Peep...
And yes, as I understand it, ntap can now attach to any other kind of storage...thus making one big manageable, controllable storage system for a company. Did someone mention isolated islands of san storage networks?
