There is no way that Intel could fail to get P4 accepted. At most, AMD can produce enough processors for a 30% market share. If Intel discontinues PIII, 70% of the market will have no choice but to buy P4 (or Via's C4). Tualatin is a genuine fallback position, because it offers the 70% of the market that would otherwise be forced to buy P4 and acceptable second choice.

Of course they will, it's not like they were unsuccessful in moving the mainstream to Rambus, or that the effort cost them any market share.

Intel has been leading the market around like a puppy dog for years. I figured that after Rambus someone would put their foot down but I guess no one can think for themself.
