Yep. I was an undergrad from '64 to '68. Not very many wanted into the military. Everyone wanted OUT. Even then it was evident the gov't had screwed up.

The war could probably have been won had LBJ decided to actually FIGHT it. But he didn't want it interfering with his Great Society and his other war, the important one, the War On Poverty. It became apparent that it was simply going to get a lot of American boys killed. For nothing.
