Majority of GLW revenues come from fiber.
As far as my understanding goes and based on current dark fiber glut, I simply cannot understand his bias towards GLW. >>

Metro uses a lot of fiber.

Corning is a much better buy simply based on valuation. I'm surprised he is recommending JDSU. Long GLW - Short JDSU has been a pretty good pairs trade for a while.

Although there is a "dark" fiber glut, in reality, chances are that it won't matter, particularly if 10 gig takes hold in the metro. If 10 gig takes off, the core has to move to 40 gig ASAP. If the core migrates to 40 gig, all the existing "dark" fiber will be converted to meteor protection for the earth. Corning has some new leaf fiber which is supposed to be great for 10 gig.

Yesterday, I loaded up the truck on this stock on the advice of a friend. 900 shares of the "Mighty Q" for nearly 8,000 shares of JDSU. Exactly what do these guys sell anyhow?

Buggy whips????
