Metro uses a lot of fiber

That's true, but laying fiber in the dense metro district takes more time than laying fiber for the long haul.
I hear that Telseon is leasing fiber from Metromedia (and such other) for their fiber requirements.

Corning is a much better buy simply based on valuation

If possible, please explain as to how you arrive at this price based on real valuation metrics such as P/S, tangible BV.
I know that Miller of Legg Mason mutual fund company calls GLW a valuation play.
But I don't think this guy is a real value fund manager.

I have been watching GLW for quite sometime and I notice that downward slide has recently subsided.

The only healthy market for fiber is China and may be Korea.
But then don't rule out suppliers from Japan and Europe.
Seems like everybody is betting on China including John Chambers.
I heard that Cisco has 600 employees in mainland China itself.
