Presuming that a weak open holds here, it's worth remembering the simple things: a failed breakout is a compelling argument that the market will go the other way with gusto. It is probably the most reliable signal in technical analysis. Some of the short-term traders I follow think that this morning will be a good time to cover shorts and I respect their thinking. However, I am going to remember the simple things until proven wrong. So far, congratulations to those who did not get swept up in last week's 'big C' euphoria.
