Hi Doc, long time no talk. I don't know enough about the stem cell issue to have an opinion on it. I'm going to have to do some reading. I hadn't given cloning much thought until this ding dong from Italy called the Pope and the President 'criminals.' We might have a regular fracas on our hands. I think its time to start paying attention.

Cloning, and mining embryos for stem cells are two very different issues (I oppose both). You don’t really need to be hyper religious to oppose destroying innocent human life. On the other hand, I don’t see any objection to cloning EXCEPT religious belief ( unless I’m missing something).

And I think those guys running around calling the cloning proponents Nazis are way off. In fact Nazis and cloners are mirror opposites. The Nazis wanted to improve humanity by killing off (in their minds) the undesirables. The cloners want to improve humanity by creating a better human.

BTW, while it's technically possible to make human clones, the ability to create a BETTER copy is still years away.

That’s the danger. Every time man tries to clime up to God’s level, God smacks man back down.

Cloneing doesn't create another one of you, more like a younger identical twin. I wouldn't be for makeing it illegal except that it doesn't work to well. The odds are you will create a human life that will not survive. This is esp. true when cloneing is used for research purposes rather then to try and make babies.

Tim

My wife used to say sort of the same thing about me. "They better not clone you; one of you is more than enough to put up with."
