Yes Skeeter put some meat on that argument. Afaik Micron was ahead of Samsung in moving to smaller geometries and 30 cm wafers. This is always being touted, as is the fact that Samsung makes money, well they don't in their chip division as a whole, so you sort it out.

bilow, of course i don't know who is the low cost producer. i don't think anybody does.

i seem to recall micron sued someone (samsung, LG OT SOMEONE) for dumping - ie, selling below cost. micron lost. perhaps mu was near cost and couldn't believe a competitor was still making money - SURPRISE!

i also recall some companies making money while mu lost money - though the accounting is complex. try depreciating lehi and add that into mu's cost and i KNOW mu isn't the low cost producer. of course, poor management decisions don't count as a real cost - ha ha! ;-)
