Ten - The AMDroids are hiding the fact that Selling Price of their vaulted 1.4 GHz AthWiper DROPPED another $2 today to $149 from $151 - making it a $5 drop in 3 days.

This precipitous drop in prices foretold a horrible quarter for AMD in Q2 - and this quarter seems to be a repeat - but even WORSE - since prices are down over 30% for the AThWipers.

AMD will bleed badly when they confess their financial sins in a few months.

I wonder why the Droids don't like to discuss this issue on the Mani-God Thread?

Re: Socket 478 is no Rambus

The issue here isn't between 423 and 478, but rather between 478 and 370.

370 doesn't host the highest performing processors, but it hosts lower power processors. The small, quiet boxes that made possible gave Intel a real advantage in the "cubicle" market.

Now Intel is demanding that corporate buyers migrate to a platform that is as bulkier and noisier than AMD's Athlon platform, abandoning what had been a significant advantage for them. Can they do as well without it? Maybe, yes, maybe no. We'll see how it works out.
