William:

With the low inflation environment I wouldn't expect anything more than a daytrade from the metals...

The key to the market right now seems to be the inverse correlation of oil production and the performance of the market... Note how the market bottomed in April while the oil sector was rising with restraints on production... They then increased production... The markets stabilized while oil declined...
stockcharts.com

The withdrawal of one million barrels of oil from production by the OPEC Gang is bringing the oil sector up at the expense of the broad market...

As far as dollar value is concerned, the U.S. is at its best when the dollar is strong... It means relatively cheaper imports for our consumers and forces domestic companies to put a lid on their prices... That's what powered the economic boom of the 90's... Weakening the dollar would have the opposite effects... Imports would become more expensive over here, making domestic products seem cheaper... But, if the past is any guide, domestic producers will raise their prices to be on par with the imports... They'll also benefit by cheaper American products overseas in relative dollar value... It didn't work in the early 80's and it won't work now...

New thread started - Prince Alwaleed:

Subject 51597

William, I've been kind of interested in what the Prince
has been up to for some time. I watched part of the
CNBC series on him awhile back also.

Just decided to gather some of this info in one place on
SI, since there isn't a thread out there now for the Prince.

I thought it might be nice to put some of his picks in
a port tracked on the new thread. I know he holds these
pretty close, but if you see an article on his any gold
stocks he follows, I'd be glad to add them also to the port.

Regards,

Matt
