JFS, The Pope is quite often wrong IMO. He is merely the head of one of the many sects of Christianity, which is one of the most rigid, self made, doctrines, that has chosen to have a separate Bible from all other denominations. The hierarchy of the Catholic church is the least like Jesus of all the rest, IMO.

My contention is that Jesus didn't directly address the subject. Honest Christians disagree on the topic. Neither position is outside the pale of Christian orthodoxy.

I don't know the Pope's teaching on the subject. Not all Papal teaching is considered infallible.
