Back when there were normal summers, CA would import roughly 20% of its electrical power (8,000 MW mostly from the North West, AZ and NV). To my knowledge, they import NO electricity from Texas.

Since much of the Nations Natural gas comes from the Gulf, I would guess a large amount of NG comes from TX-or thru it.

It is important to note, that the Out of State producers often have Power Plants in state.

Why do you call this a self serving chart? The tenor of your reply suggests you still don't believe that you have been lied to and conned by Gray Davis. I can only show you the information. It is so black and white obvious to me. But then I understood what a bunch of crap was coming out of CA from the very beginning.

The amounts of energy from each location is a red herring. The most expensive power came from within CA. But I believe that less the 20% of power comes from Texas.

The chart is from info from California Energy Commission.

If you want to know why black outs and now this summer less.
Look at June off line change. California is at the edge of using all available sources of power. There is no reserve.

The effects of Natural Gas price on electricity in CA should be obvious.

The state did not allow long term contracts. If the folks in CA are to stupid to understand why this leaves the producers at the mercy of chance then as I said Ca is Fruit and Nutland.

All the California numbers to let those who can think know how stupid and what big liars those who lead CA are.
