"The best gift a father can give his child is to love his mother."

You could not be more right.

To often people have trouble seeing the obvious solution.

Good point, M. We have our first one on the way, so I'm reading up on the whole parenting thing. Reading a book call "On Becoming Babywise", and so far I really like it. One of the biggest points they make is that a baby should be a welcome member to your family, and not the center of it (which I agree with). That point follows into yours (I think), which is the way that parents interact with each other is of key importance to the child's development. Showing love and respect for each other on a consistent basis will greatly increase the chances of having a child that is happy and healthy (physically and emotionally).

Unfortunately, far too many "love" the mother only before she has his child... In only the rabid pro-lifers would devote about 25% of their fervor to the father part of the equation, we might all be a lot better off. Certainly the mother and baby would.
