I don't believe that most of the commercial activity is initiated by the commercials. I suspect that they will take the opposite side of whatever trade the small and large speculators want to establish. That would explain why they're right all the time - they're always taking the opposite side of the herd. Granted, sometimes the specs trade amongst themselves, but I'd bet the bulk of their activity is providing the liquidity for the net overflow.

If a spec wants to get short this market, then there are plenty of speculators lined up to take the opposite side of the trade. But hell, if somebody else wants to get long this market, they'll take the opposite side of the trade. <g>
