Homosexuality and pedophilia, coprophilia, etc. are different things. I don't know anyone who supports gays' having equal human rights who also supports pedophilia. That's a red herring you're throwing in. As for societal value, I'm assuming your talking about the ability to procreate, which is not exactly high on my personal list of important additions to the world. In vitro fertilization and adoption are available and regularly used by those whose choice or infertility (regardless of their sexual orientation) precludes natural childbearing. As for the etiology of homosexuality, the APA and AMA believe it's genetically-based and immutable. I agree. But even if one feels that homosexuality comes from another source, I fail to see how that's relevant to providing gays with the human rights we all deserve.
