I don't think there's any way that either of us could sway the other's viewpoint on this, and I don't think that's our intention, anyway. I do think that dragging pedophilia into a discussion of homosexuality is going off on a tangent, though.

WRT heritability studies, one must be very careful with interpretation, as the N is often very small and some of the regression analyses used on the data may be flawed. I took a grad course in Behavior Genetics a while ago and was surprised by the crude state of that art.

If there is a reason to preserve the traditional notion of marriage, rather than to innovate, the state is at liberty to do so.

I submit that "preserve" is not the appropriate word here. The genie is out of the bottle. If one wants the traditional notion of marriage to prevail, "restore" would be a better word.

Where one perceives we are on the continuum matters. I think that the traditional notion is gone and we'd be best served rethinking the whole matter rather than hanging onto something that is gone.
