I'd encourage you to have some fun trying to explain to me why you've gotten so worked up about the state's $46MM loss in the recent spot market, yet you seem to be completely sanguine about the fact that the overall California electrical energy bill went from $7B in 1999 to a projected $40-50B in 2001. Your concern about a few million seems highly irrational in the view of the big picture screwing that the IPPs and trader/marketers have imposed on the citizens of California. Could you explain why we should actually care about these piddling losses in the spot market while the 200 hours of rolling blackouts that Cal-ISO was projecting have evaporated from the scene, and the system has suffered no Level II or III alerts since early June? Isn't the stability of the system worth more to you than some supposed losses that the state is suffering due to the fact that the excesses of market power have been curbed and the spot and day ahead markets can't be gamed any longer? I'm sorry, Mrs. Peel, but I see you as lacking perspective on these issues. Please explain yourself so that I might understand you better. Is the overall integrity of the system important, or are you one of those polemicists who view the greed of the marketers as trumping the interests of society? In other words, I think the present situation is A-OK, and the best of all possible worlds. Especially in view of the snakes who infest the power marketing industry, personified in that creep Gary Ackerman. Best Regards, Ray :)
