Mr. Duray,

That is quite an impetuous missive.

Normally, I would not even bother with a response to such a patronizing, contemptuous query.

But I'm feeling particularly magnanimous today, so I will respond.

The underlying point I was making (which you seem to have studiously missed) was that it was the lack of planning, the refusal to address the growing energy needs of Californians *until* it became a full blown perceived crisis.

BTW, I was careful to point the finger at the entirety of the California governing authorities, not just Gray Davis, although I find his actions/inactions the most egregious.

Now to be fair, I realize that NIMBYism in California is part and parcel of the arrogance that brought Californians to the precipice of rolling black outs, energy rationing, etc...

However, this is where political leadership actually *matters*

Both parties were guilty of not only lack of leadership when it came to the regulatory environment and political *cost* of pushing for new supply and distribution channels.....they're guilty of pandering to the very behavior that brought them into this predicament in the first place..

So I guess that's what happens when you don't prepare adequately for demand, you fall victim to the suppliers. I wouldn't look to favorably on ANY entity governmental, corporate, or individual which through ineffective management or inaction allowed itself to become "victim" to those "evil" marketers and traders.

It's very simple, if you put all your money on the status quo, and it changes, you lose.

You scramble.

But by then you're playing frantically trying to cover your bets, when in reality, a hedge was needed.

And finally, you're the person dealing in personal affronts, calling individuals "irrational", "worked up", and "lacking perspective"....so in closing I would

Encourage you to find a way to express dissent without malice.

Now I'll return to my busy life, it was indeed fun, I hope you enjoyed it too.

:)
