I agree with your sentiment, which is why I am leery playing charts like those. As they say, "all good things must end eventually", and so it is the same for long runs to the upside. Perfect example you state, Nasdaq March 2000.
Methinks that perhaps following charts like that, and waiting for the weekly to top out, might me a good idea to develop lists of short candidates. And then again, maybe not (to the moon, Alice!)...ggg
