this type of inflammatory talk on a public forum has the potential for dire consequences.. It goes way beyond, "boys will be boys" locker room or male bonding stuff.


I agree with you. The question is, what do we do about it.

I see the situation much like US relations with China. Some say that we shouldn't trade with China or even have diplomatic relations because of their continued civil rights violations, rather that we should isolate them. Others say that we improve their civil rights by interacting with them and giving them an example. I am of the latter school. Isolating them only reinforces the behavior of which we disapprove. But I understand the other side.

There is a lot of uncouth and even vile expression on SI. What would you do about it? It sounds like disengagement to me. How does that help?
