They're the same bunch who refuse to take responsibility for the S+L debacle which was another case where too much deregulation by Reagan (with some Democrats supporting them in that case) created an invitation for the white collar swindlers to fleece us. I am not exaggerating that the entire tax cut this year has been, in effect, stolen by the energy cartel with Bush-Cheney's full support. Weeks after I realized this I noticed an article stating the same thing on the DNC's website so I am not alone in seeing this. Bush-Cheney not only got "bribed" to let it happen (massive soft money support for the last 12 years which created him as a politician) but are now getting well "tipped" for looking the other way (more and more soft money and profits for their gang). To imagine that suddenly a grave gasoline, natural gas and electricity shortage just "occured" then suddenly ended once Jeffords switched parties is the height of self delusion and Bush-Cheney protectionism. It's akin to if Democrats denied Clinton ever was unfaithful to Hilary, but it is a much more important and expensive case of abuse of power and robbed people of all parties as well as our public coffers (part of our surplus). The only thing Clinton cost us was embarrassment and Kenneth Starr's 100 million in expenses. Otherwise he helped create the surplus and pay down the debt. 100 billion is roughly what was gouged in a nine month period just in the US alone. And now we have a supply glut. Go figure. The American People are largely unaware of this because the press has not picked up on it and the Senate Investigators have not yet unearthed the evidence. Cheney, Bush, Duke and Enron all haev stone-walled subpoenas for documents. But seeing how this is probably the #1 issue for Democrats in 2002 expect the story to come out. Just a few days ago El Paso Natural Gas was caught, a high level email someome unearthed proving they colluded to control the California NG supply. Which they later "mysteriously" cut off at the height of the crisis then "turned back on" after Jeffords switched. Even after that NG prices to consumers in California didn't come down. A 500% spike, I noticed on my bill and El paso's quarterly report showed no evidence of higher cost to El Paso just a 90% profit spike. That my friends is called gouging. It is also called using energy as a political weapon. 25 million in disinformation ads are now being run in California by Jim Baker's PAC all of which blame Grey Davis for the "crisis". All a big lie of course. El Paso of couswe is also one of the Bush-Cheney inner circle. Together with Jim Baker, Reliant, Williams, Duke and Enron they pulled the heist which climaxed after Bush took power. Follow the money.
