RE:"Niceguy, I hate to say this but Mhz Sells ( tm McMannis )
even if the cpu sucks otherwise. I still say that AMD should stop rating their CPUS with Mhz and go with Mips to avoid the Intel BS. The other alternative is to build a cpu with 40-50 pipeline stages and go for 20Ghz ( damn the mips ) :)"

I've been laughed and and ridiculed by so called chip designers and experts for this simple idea...Mhz sells (TM McMannis). And it still holds true...Mhz sells...even though the cpu sucks otherwise. If you have two equally performing chips...1.8 P4 and 1.4 Athlon...the higher clocking chip has the marketing/price advantage especially when sold to the average consumer. People simply do not know about the dog P4. If P4 sells with SDRAM this is FURTHER proof that Mhz sells.
AMD would be fine if they could clock the Athlon within a couple hundred Mhz but at 600 Mhz, the absolute difference is daunting.
AMD should have known this...worked day and night to keep the Athlon as close as possible AND expetited the hammer...
istead they lite cigars and sit on their hands...delaying palomino, hammer and .13u.

Rather, Jerry and the boys sold a bunch of stock before they warned. I can't believe he will show up at the next shareholders meeting. Some people will be screaming.
If I was there they would have to restrain me. <G>
