"Mhz sells (TM McMannis). And it still holds true."

But does it? If it does, then why is Intel having so much trouble selling P4s? Dunno about this quarter, but so far the P4 has consistently been running at half Intel's projections or worse. Reports have the P4 motherboard sales to have increased by 30%-50% over last quarter, which means Intel is on track for 2.2-2.7 million units, or about half of what they projected for Q3. This is despite prices being cut to the point that a 1.4GHz P4 is actually cheaper than a 1GHz PIII. And despite that, the 1GHz PIII likely sells more units than the 1.3GHz and 1.4GHz P4 combined...

If MHz sells, it ain't doing the job for Intel.

Jim, the problem with MIPS is that both Intel and AMD can claim 4x the clock speed in running SSE, SSE2, 3DNow and even MMX code. Intel would counter with SPEC, where they lead because of optimizing compilers. I would use an average of Content Creation 2001, Sysmark 2001 and possibly a 3D rendering program. At least those benchmarks won't change for the next 6 months.

Jim, >Rather, Jerry and the boys sold a bunch of stock before they warned. I can't believe he will show up at the next shareholders meeting. Some people will be screaming.
If I was there they would have to restrain me.

You just have to fly up to NYC.
