I suppose anything's possible but they specifically said their software was optimized for the second generation of P4. One doesn't optimize for L3 do they?

I wouldn't think so... perhaps Northwood has a couple of enhancements in design???

It would be possible - if data sets were optimized to fit into a given size - and that size happened to be within the L3 cache size.

Of course, this argument may apply to an enlarged L2 cache on Northwood - right?
