The coin toss at the beginning of a football game is pretty meaningless in terms of the outcome since it reverses at the start of the second half. That and the fact that its not sudden death. If the OT period was not sudden death the coin toss, while still meaningfull would not be as important. Would make games longer, sure. But would be the best way to take chance out of the equation. Well one aspect of chance atleast. Not a bad idea but there is something to be said for sudden death. Tim
