That's surprising, about their profitability. I posted without checking, just assuming that cars are a low-margin mature near-commodity industry; I didn't realise they were that profitable. And, now that I bother to look at it, GM stock hasn't done too exceptionally poorly, (now at the mid-1998 peak, a double off the 1994 low). F, though, is lower now than in 1987......

Gottfried, My data reflects the position that we are in phase I of the economic model (cyclical/energy) and looks like we are moving into the phase II (basic materials/technology).
