Do it for yourself not me. You can see that clearly with Bush-Cheney wanting and being able to keep energy prices higher that, in effect, the entire tax cut goes into their cronies pockets and helps them buy their way into the wilderness areas at the same time. It also greatly fattens their soft money power base. corruption breeds more corruption, and some is used for massive TV disinformation campaigns to defeat noble programs like Campaign Finance Reform. Think of the bribe which must have been made to the Teamsters to get them to support drilling in ANWAR. A guaranteed overly fat contract from the oil companies working in tandem with the White House. The Teamsters say they were told by the GOP it would create 700,000 new jobs for them. That's a ridiculously high figure. Not even 10% of that would ever be needed. So what is the rest? A bribe to the most corrupt union just to get those 5 votes in the Senate they need. Absolute corruption at its worst. Also in the ANWAR bill the Big Lie that they will only drill on 2000 acres (or some small figure). But the fine print is acreage is counted only as the area directly around a rig which means they can put up 2000 rigs ALL OVER and ACROSS ANWAR, drilling the entire area. Criminal deception but the American People are too busy to notice. And what do you think of Bush-Cheney's 33 billion in tax breaks to Big Oil? That's the entire amount of the tax break right there, and after these companies are enjoying windfall profits thanks to the gouging excesses of the last 3 quarters. Amazing they can be supported by mainstream Americans on this. But party loyalty seems to cut through any type of conscience or fiscal restraint, even those of supposedly decent Christian backers who would walk a mile to return a dollar to someone but don't mind these guys fleecing America for hundreds of billions. On the positive side there are about 15% (and more if they got couageous) of the GOP who are willing to fight to stop this. Those are the Republicans you should be backing, not the oil-soft money dominated sell-outs. This is for the future of your party, your country, our environment and any benefit the tax breaks might have on our economy. Right now they're having almost no effect because in effect the money's already been stolen before it even reaches the tax-payers. The only ones who get more are the very rich and why feel sorry for them? They have it easy.
