The blue chips should not go down. The economy has just stalled, maybe in a mild recession. Till the evidence piles on that blue chips are going to get hurt badly, why should they go down? Afterall, a stock like MRK should do ok regardless of the economy (to a certain extent of course)...

Techs like IBM/MSFT/INTC are another matter. THey have lost a lot of value. So, maybe this thing is working properly...
