What do you folks think about the Q's $300MM investment in NextWave with respect to honking off Verizon Wireless?

FWIW, here's my two cents.

If Irwin/management has been clear and consistent about anything it is that they will make strategic investments that further the rapid deployment and adoption of CDMA.

Investing in NextWave does that, pure and simple. If VZ came up with an investment proposal that furthers CDMA along the same lines, I bet Irwin would listen.

Surfer Mike,

I'm sure the pros and cons were weighed very carefully by Q. Verizon didn't exactly come to Q's defense when that megalomaniac from Vodafone decided to flex his muscles. Also Q is already part owner of NextWave.

Strategically, NextWave can become the straw the breaks the camels back in North America and, if successful, will have profound affects on the speed with which 3G is adopted globally. Todays announcement just underscores what most close followers of Q already know. This is war and Q aims to win!
