I think maybe the AARP has redefined "baby boom" for their own reasons. I always thought it was over by 1960. True fanatics can probably find out at the US Census site.

Culturally, I've always thought of the boomers as the people who reached 18 between JFK's assassination and Nixon's resignation. If Woodstock and Vietnam were the defining experiences of the baby boom generation, it's a bit of a reach to include people who were 5 years old in 1969 (born in 64).
