Go to Yosemite someday, then take a trip to the next canyon over. Can't remember its name off-hand but most of that wondrous valley which they say was once more beautiful that Yosemite was clear-cut 100 years ago. It remains a barren almost lifeless depressing place. Think you can replace old-growth forests? Maybe in 500 years. Maybe. They should be off-limits. We have precious few left. Or big trees should be bid for and licenced like wild game is, a 10 tree limit, that sort of thing. Who cares if redwood becomes very expensive. The very rich are the only ones who can afford it already. The rest of us just use plywood which can be made out of almost anything. Someday we'll have the good sense to legalize hemp. We can make paper, fabric, wood sheeting and lots more out of it and it's cheap, renewable, requires little water and can grow like a weed almost anywhere. And no you can't smoke it and get high. That's its famous cousin.
